VALUE: $1,500. Normally up to three scholarships will be offered per year.


PERSONS ELIGIBLE: Canadian citizens or landed immigrants enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at a Canadian post-secondary institution wishing to pursue study at a post-secondary institution in a Nordic country. Applicants must take at least one language course in the official Nordic language of the host country during their study.


WHERE TENABLE: At any recognized post-secondary institution or recognized summer program in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway or Sweden.


DEADLINE: March 15th of each year.


REQUIREMENTS: Applications must include:

* Full name of applicant.

* Citizenship status, date of birth, Social Insurance Number (for payment purposes).

* Postal address and email address.

* Educational background: Applicant's previous and present academic institutions. Current level of study (e.g., 3rd year BA).

* Proposed programme of study in the Nordic countries, including name of host institution, length of course(s), number of hours per week of language instruction.

* A short essay (max 250 words) explaining how the proposed programme fits into the applicant's overall scheme of study and personal development.

* Official copies of post-secondary transcripts sent directly to the Institute.

* Two letters of recommendation from post-secondary instructors. The letters should include assessment of the applicant's motivation, academic abilities and achievements, including oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and leadership abilities and the applicant's potential to benefit from the chosen study programme. In addition, referees are asked, (a) using such criteria, to place applicants in the top x% of students in a comparable group and (b) to indicate the size of the comparison group.
